Surah Al-Fatiha Word by Word سورۃ الفاتحہ لفظ بہ لفظ
Al-Fatiha, 'The Opening', is recited in every unit of prayer. It has seven ayahs: praise of Allah, a declaration of worship, and a prayer for guidance. Understanding each word transforms your salah.
سورۃ الفاتحہ نماز کی ہر رکعت میں پڑھی جاتی ہے۔ اس کی سات آیات ہیں: اللہ کی حمد، عبادت کا اقرار اور ہدایت کی دعا۔ ہر لفظ کا مطلب سمجھنے سے نماز کی کیفیت بدل جاتی ہے۔
Second noun of idafah, so it ends in -i.
مضاف الیہ ہونے کی وجہ سے مجرور۔
Mercy that embraces all creation. Root ر ح م.
ایسی رحمت جو ساری مخلوق پر ہے۔ مادہ ر ح م۔
Constant, lasting mercy, especially for the believers.
مسلسل اور دائمی رحمت، خاص طور پر اہلِ ایمان کے لیے۔
Al- here means all praise and thanks.
یہاں 'الـ' سے مراد ہر طرح کی تعریف اور شکر۔
Rabb: the one who creates, owns, nurtures and sustains.
رب: جو پیدا کرے، مالک ہو، پالے اور قائم رکھے۔
Repeated to emphasise His mercy.
رحمت پر زور دینے کے لیے دوبارہ آیا ہے۔
Some recitations read malik (King).
بعض قراءتوں میں مَلِكِ (بادشاہ) ہے۔
Din here means recompense and judgement.
یہاں دین کا مطلب بدلہ اور حساب ہے۔
Placed first for emphasis: only You.
تاکید کے لیے پہلے آیا ہے: صرف تیری۔
Present tense with na- (we).
مضارع، نَـ (ہم) کے ساتھ۔
Form X: to seek help.
باب استفعال: مدد طلب کرنا۔
Noun + matching adjective.
موصوف + مطابق صفت۔
Idafah: path + of those who.
اضافت: راستہ + ان لوگوں کا۔
anʿamta = You favoured; ʿalayhim = upon them.
أَنْعَمْتَ = تو نے انعام کیا؛ عَلَيْهِمْ = ان پر۔
Maghdub: one upon whom anger falls.
مَغْضُوب: جس پر غضب کیا گیا۔
Long madd on dal-lin (six counts). Then say Amin.
الضَّالِّينَ پر مد لازم (چھ حرکت)۔ پھر آمین کہیں۔
Tips
- Ayah 5 is the centre of the surah: worship and seeking help belong to Allah alone.
- Notice the change from 'He' (ayahs 2–4) to 'You' (ayah 5) – praise turns into direct address.
- Many of these words are among the top 300: Allah, rabb, yawm, din, sirat, alladhina.
- Pause briefly after each ayah, as the Prophet ﷺ did.
- Recite it slowly with the meaning in mind in your next prayer.
- پانچویں آیت سورت کا مرکز ہے: عبادت اور مدد صرف اللہ سے۔
- آیات 2 تا 4 میں 'وہ' اور آیت 5 میں 'تو' – تعریف براہِ راست خطاب بن جاتی ہے۔
- اس کے بہت سے الفاظ سب سے عام 300 الفاظ میں ہیں: اللہ، رب، یوم، دین، صراط، الذین۔
- نبی ﷺ کی طرح ہر آیت کے بعد تھوڑا وقفہ کریں۔
- اگلی نماز میں معنی ذہن میں رکھ کر آہستہ تلاوت کریں۔
