Detached Pronouns ضمائر منفصلہ (الگ ضمیریں)

Detached pronouns stand on their own as separate words: I, you, he, we, they. They are often the subject at the start of a sentence. Arabic distinguishes masculine and feminine, and singular, dual and plural.

ضمائر منفصلہ الگ لفظ کے طور پر آتی ہیں: میں، تم، وہ، ہم، وہ سب۔ یہ اکثر جملے کے شروع میں مبتدا ہوتی ہیں۔ عربی میں مذکر و مؤنث اور واحد، تثنیہ اور جمع کا فرق ہوتا ہے۔

Tips

  • The 'h' pronouns (huwa, hiya, hum, hunna) are for people not present: he, she, they.
  • The 'ant' pronouns (anta, anti, antum) are for the person you speak to.
  • Allah often refers to Himself with nahnu ('We') – the plural of majesty, not of number.
  • A pronoun + noun makes a full sentence with no verb: huwa Allah = He is Allah.
  • Learn the pronouns in their family groups: ana/nahnu, anta/antum, huwa/hum.
