Tips

  • Six letters (ا د ذ ر ز و) never join to the letter after them.
  • Learn the heavy letters together: ص ض ط ظ ق (and often خ غ). They are said with a full, rounded mouth.
  • Pairs to compare: ح / ه, ع / ء, س / ص, ت / ط, د / ض, ذ / ظ, ك / ق.
  • Dots matter: ب ت ث differ only by the number and place of dots.
  • Listen to a reciter and repeat each letter aloud; correct sounds matter more than speed.
